Christopher Luna's Art Featured in WHERE ARE WE GOING AND WHAT WILL WE DO WHEN WE GET THERE? at Art At The Cave August 2-25, 2023/ Artist Talk Photos from August 19

This month I have two pieces in WHERE ARE WE GOING AND WHAT WILL WE DO WHEN WE GET THERE? at Art At The Cave. The show, which closes on August 25, features "works from 35 regional artists in this exhibit which ponders our collective future."

I will also be participating in an artist talk at the gallery on August 19.

The two pieces I have in the show are "The Second Coming of the Sex Machine" and "EYE CATALYST (For Diane di Prima)," a collaboration with Erin Dengerink.

"EYE CATALYST" was based on a poem I wrote for one of my poetic heroes, Diane di Prima, when I had her on my list for the August Postcard Poetry Fest. Learn more about the postcards Diane and I sent each other.

TOTAL STRANGER LOVE
For Dane & Justice
High End Market Place

Brooklyn in da house
& in my heart
home is where
yr welcomed
treated right
where the reception
is so warm
it ain’t even possible
to stay uptight

lean back
feel it
let it move
on through
you
won’t do you
no harm

upon meeting Justice
I am reminded of the power of words
to manifest reality
language energy
with mystic properties
sure as fuck could use
a little more justice
round here

sharp rockin
grey cotton
security
settled atop
a sweatin’ dome
rhythm roam
rock & swing

til you can’t
help but feel
everything
acutely
step forward
just be

this one’s “a little more sativa leaning”
catch my meaning?
took a chance on
spirit gleaning
integrity test
nothing but be-ing

an everyday
occurrence
pruning
greening

soul’s keening
hesitant, careening
toward the path’s
proper leaning
there beneath yr feet
all along
just waiting for ya
to make that connection
make the scene
to be seen
teach yourself
& others
how to be
how to
set
yrself
free

APPROACHING TOTALITY For John Furniss

APPROACHING TOTALITY

For John Furniss

a ghostly veil is draped

over the entirety

blankets the house,

grass, & trees

stellar jays

aieennh! aiennh!

in warning

as the world goes dark

everything quiets down

& a million anxieties

suddenly recede as

a thousand gleaming crescents

fan across the patio and lawn
